Job summary

WellSpace Health in Sacramento seeks a Dentist to provide clinical dental services and preventive care in our dental health centers.

You will examine patients of all ages, perform or direct treatments, educate them on oral health, and maintain accurate records while following infection control and HIPAA standards.

California licensure (DDS/DMD) and DEA/CPR certifications are required, and travel as needed; the position offers a regionally competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry with valid DDS/DMD license to practice in California.
  • Current DEA, CPR and other certificates; maintains continuing education requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of general and pediatric dentistry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply modern methods and four-handed dentistry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high productivity.
  • Fluency in additional languages preferred.
  • HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures and PPE protocols.
  • Willing to complete credentialing and privileging.
  • Travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Examines individuals of all ages, diagnoses dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Records patient-dentist interactions in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
  • Performs dental treatment and treats oral diseases; refers cases when appropriate; confers with physicians regarding medical/dental problems.
  • Educates patients and parents in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
  • Attends regular staff meetings.
  • Keeps clinical and other records regarding services provided, supplies and materials used.
  • Exercising professional judgment in the performance of services provided consistent with WellSpace Health’s policies and the standards of the dental profession.
  • Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested.
  • Assists in the coordination and integration of the organization’s dental programs and services with other organizational programs and services for the welfare of WSH patients.
  • Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.

Salary Range: $179,100.00 - $232,830.00 per year.

Position Summary

The individual in this position will be responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in our dental health centers.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry; possession of valid DDS/DMD license to practice in the State of California.
  • Current DEA, CPR, and other certificates; meets all continuing education requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of general and pediatric dentistry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply modern methods and practices of general four‑handed dentistry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision for patient care and follow‑up, and with high productivity.
  • Fluency in additional languages preferred.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self‑monitoring, masking and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Must be willing to successfully complete the credentialing & privileging process.
  • Travel as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and arms to reach. The employee is also required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
