Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive, high quality dental care to patients, both preventive and restorative care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to provide general dental care activities
  • Understand the goals and objectives of the Corporation as set out in the By-Laws and Policy and Procedure Manuals
  • Maintain case histories, examination reports, and other medical records in the approved format
  • Assess, diagnose and treat dental problems of SeMRHI patients
  • Develop and document appropriate plan for the management of problems identified
  • Promote preventive care and health lifestyles for all patient lifecycles
  • Supervise the dental assistant effectively
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the dental care plan
  • Provide root canal therapy and crowns to patients under 18 years of age
  • Provide periodontal treatment that can be done without surgery
  • Coordinate services with other Center providers, local specialists and community resources
  • Remains accountable to the Chief Executive Officer regarding the Daily operations of the dental clinic
  • Follow established health care standards and protocols for each dental service and program
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and records
  • Participates actively in Performance Improvement activities
  • Maintains complete, up-to-date and accurate problem oriented medical records
  • Complies with credentialing and other administrative requirements necessary for meeting regulatory standards
  • Demonstrates positive personal attributes such as honesty, integrity and professionalism in all aspects of the job
  • Works to ensure the productivity and effectiveness of the dental staff, in terms of utilization and patient satisfaction
  • Attends classes, workshops and seminars as appropriate to maintain clinical competency and stay informed of changes in community health
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance
  • Verify timecard at the end of each pay period.
  • Performs related work, as assigned
  • Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate from an approved School of Dentistry, with a doctoral degree (DDS or DMD)
  • Valid Mississippi dental license with unrestricted privileges under the Controlled Substances statues of the Drug Enforcement Agency
  • At least 3 years’ experience in providing dental care in a community health or related setting
  • Valid Mississippi Dental License
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to continuously use sound analytical thinking in providing patient care
  • Ability to reason in the practice of Dentistry
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with patient and staff emergencies
Physical and Other Requirements
  • Continuously listen, visualize, have dexterity and eye-hand coordination, and provide emotional support to patients and their families
  • Must have full range of body motion
  • Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearms for rotation and walk
  • Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
