Job summary

The GEO Group in Florence, AZ seeks a licensed dentist to provide care within an evidenced-based rehabilitation framework. You will develop treatment plans, perform dental procedures, and coordinate with medical teams to ensure quality care for patients under facility standards.

Responsibilities include screenings, radiographs, prosthesis work, and patient education, with emphasis on documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Degree in dentistry from an accredited dental school and active licensure to practice in the relevant state.
  • Professional license must remain on file at all times at the facility where services are rendered.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs and related mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain compliance with accreditation policies.
  • Complete an initial dental screening on new commitments within seven days.
  • Evaluate patients needing or applying for dental care.
  • Take impressions for dental plates and send prostheses to outside labs.
  • Formulate and create individual treatment plans after exams.
  • Perform routine dental procedures following applicable health standards.
  • Educate patients on diet, flossing, and fluoride use.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment regimens for dental conditions.
  • Maintain health records and use electronic health records systems.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and supplies.
  • Provide in-service training for health staff.
  • Collaborate with hospital medical teams and other professionals.
  • Maintain ongoing professional knowledge through continued education.

Education

Degree in dentistry from an accredited dental school
Licensed to practice as a registered dentist in the state where the facility is located

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and maintain compliance with company policies for accreditation.
  • Complete an initial dental screening on all new commitments within seven (7) days.
  • Evaluate patients needing or applying for dental care.
  • Take impressions for dental plates and send prostheses to outside dental labs.
  • Formulate and create individual treatment plans after a thorough exam.
  • Perform routine cleaning, drilling, filling, and extraction of teeth following National Commission for Correctional Health Care Standards for dental care.
  • Teach about diet, flossing, use of fluoride, and other aspects of dental care.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented dental conditions.
  • Produce clear and concise health records, reports, and correspondence, including the use of Electronic Health Records system .
  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Provide in-service training for health staff members (dental hygiene, dental care, dental emergencies, and techniques).
  • Supervise professional, technical, and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital medical team, Psychiatric, Mental Health Professionals, Nurses, Health Technicians, and Administrative Assistants.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge (attend workshops/seminars/conferences, review professional publications, etc.).
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in dentistry from an accredited dental school required. Licensed to practice as a registered dentist in the state in which the facility is located is required.
  • Professional license must remain on file at all times at the facility where services are rendered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuously lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.; bending, stooping, walking, driving automatic vehicles.
  • Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 40 lbs.; climbing, standing.
