Job summary

Lincoln Memorial University’s College of Dental Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor of Specialty Dental Medicine to support patient care delivery, student clinical education, and clinic operations. The role covers prosthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics, aiding faculty in instruction while ensuring compliance and safety.

The incumbent will mentor students, maintain instrument readiness, and help manage specialty clinics, documenting cases and referrals.

Qualifications

• DDS/DMD with specialty training or advanced training.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in dental practice or academic setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of specialty dental procedures, instrumentation, and materials.
• Preferred: experience in academic dental clinics, familiarity with EHR systems (AxiUm), BLS certification and knowledge of emergency protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert support in designated specialty areas (e.g., removable prosthodontics, implant workflows).
• Assist students during clinical sessions and support faculty in evaluating clinical performance.
• Coordinate specialty clinics and manage appointment flow, coverage, and case follow-up.
• Ensure adherence to clinic policies, infection control guidelines, HIPAA, OSHA; participate in audits and safety checks.
• Participate in faculty calibration sessions and provide onboarding and continuing education on specialty procedures.
• Monitor inventory and assist in ordering supplies; ensure operation of equipment.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support efficient and collaborative care; liaison between clinical and academic departments.
• Contribute to an inclusive clinic culture promoting cultural competence and patient-centered care.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested by clinic leadership.
