SEMRHI in Hattiesburg, MS seeks a Dental Receptionist to manage front-desk duties, schedule patient visits and maintain dental records with courtesy and accuracy.

You will communicate with patients, families and visitors of all ages, collect fees, balance end-of-day reports, and support IT/security trainings as required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer clinic telephones and schedule appointments for patient visits.
  • Register all patients upon arrival at the clinic in a timely manner.
  • Compile dental and medical histories on all new patients.
  • Collect fees from patients upon receipt of services and record payments accordingly.
  • Oversee the dental center’s records.
  • Balance end of day reports, prepare bank deposits and maintain cash on hand records.
  • Attend continuing education in-services workshops.
  • File insurance claims and post payments to patient accounts as needed.
  • Maintain waiting room in a neat and clean appearance at all times.
  • Accept sliding fee applications and verify information.
  • Maintain files of application statuses and enter sliding fee information into the computer.
  • Meet deadlines and requisition office supplies as necessary.
  • Prepare clinic for operation by turning on lights, doors, computers, faxes, copiers, etc.
  • Maintain punctual attendance and verify timecards at pay periods.
  • Perform related work as assigned and complete required IT/Security trainings.

Job Summary

The Dental Receptionist is primarily responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the development and maintenance of dental records. As a team member, the Dental Receptionist will demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Answer clinic telephones and schedule appointments for patient visits
  • Register all patients upon arrival at the clinic in a timely manner
  • Compiles dental and medical histories on all new patients
  • Collects fees from patients upon receipt of services and records payments accordingly
  • Serves as overseer of the dental center’s records
  • Balance end of day reports, prepares bank deposit and maintains accurate information for cash on hand
  • Attends continuing education in-services workshops
  • Files insurance claims, performing follow-up functions as needed; responsible for posting of payments to the patients’ accounts
  • Maintain the waiting room in proper order, presenting a neat and clean appearance at all times
  • Accept sliding fee applications and verifies accuracy of information
  • Maintains files of the status of all applications, and enters sliding fee information into the computer
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines
  • Requisition office supplies as necessary
  • Prepare clinic for operation by turning on lights, unlocking doors, turning on computers, faxes, copiers, etc.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Verify timecard at the end of each pay period.
  • Performs related work, as assigned.
  • Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
Qualifications

  • Multi-task while working under pressure, meeting deadlines and answering telephones

The schedule for this role is; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8-6 and Thursday 4-6

Physical and Other Requirements
  • Continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Ability for simple grasping and speed work
  • Demonstrate positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty and integrity
  • Conscientious of maintenance and appearance of Health Center
  • Frequently sit, squat, reach and use both right and left forearm rotation and walk
  • Occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
