Job summary

Glidewell Laboratories in Memphis, TN seeks a dental lab apprentice to learn morphology, fabricate and repair dental prostheses under supervision.

You will read prescriptions, familiarize with materials, and develop technical knowledge to assist in fixed and removable restorations while using hand tools and equipment. No prior experience required; training provided with emphasis on precision.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required.
• Prior dental experience or background is a plus.
• Previous experience in positions requiring hand and finger dexterity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learns basic tooth morphology and anatomy.
• Learns to fabricate and repair dental prosthesis and dental appliances such as dentures, partials, crowns and bridges, inlay/onlay, veneers, and implant restorations.
• Learns to read and interpret dental prescriptions.
• Familiarizes self with materials such as porcelain, composite, acrylic and metals and their use in restorations.
• Learns and practices restoring natural teeth by manufacturing fixed or removable appliances.
• Develops technical knowledge to make decisions when fabricating prosthesis.
• May learn basics of replacing partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures.
• Familiarizes self with names and functions of various hand tools and equipment.
• Practices using various types of hand tools and equipment.
• Documents learning by completing quizzes and worksheets.
• Works under supervision of trainers and asks for assistance when needed.
• Learns quality standard protocol and compliance steps.
