Job summary

Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) seeks an experienced Medical Director for Dentistry and Oral Health to lead clinical education, quality improvement and operations across MAHEC’s Dentistry/Oral Health division. This role shapes patient care quality, provider experience, and learner outcomes in partnership with UNC Adams School of Dentistry.

The Director will supervise the Dental Hygienist team, coordinate resident and student education, and drive strategic initiatives to expand

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years combined clinical, educational and administrative abilities and experience.
• Must be a full-time faculty member with the Dentistry/Oral Health department at MAHEC.
• Preferred: experience teaching in academic or clinical settings.
• Must possess licensure to practice medicine in North Carolina and a valid DEA license.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Dentistry/Oral Health division in academic, QI and clinic operations.
• Ensure provider engagement, service, and positive provider experience.
• Collaborate with UNC Adams School of Dentistry and partners to promote high patient care.
• Oversee scheduling, clinic workflow, and equipment across sites.
• Participate in teaching residents and dental students and new resident orientation.
• Review audits, manage patient safety and participate in department/organizational committees.
