Job summary

Urban Health Plan, Inc. seeks a licensed Dental Hygienist to join the Bronx dental team. You will clean teeth, examine oral areas, take and develop x-rays, apply fluoride and sealants, and educate patients on oral hygiene.

This full-time role runs 8am–5pm, five days a week. Requires NYS registration and Local Anesthesia certification; bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred. Urban Health Plan offers competitive benefits and a supportive, patient-centered work culture.

Qualifications

• Must be a NYS Registered Dental Hygienist.

• Computer proficiency for patient records and imaging.

Responsibilities

• Examine gums with probes and identify signs of periodontal disease.
• Clean calculus and stains from teeth and under gum margins.
• Apply fluorides and sealants to prevent decay.
• Provide patient education on oral health and review medical history.

Job description

Position Summary

Joining our Dental Department, the Dental Hygienist will support quality dental services at our El Nuevo San Juan Health Center in the Bronx, NY. The Dental Hygienist will clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The Dental Hygienist will also educate patients and families on oral hygiene, take and develop x-rays, and apply fluoride and sealants.

Minimum Qualifications

• NYS Registered Dental Hygienist.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and general principles of dentistry.
• Computer proficiency.
• Local Anesthesia certification.
• Excellent communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

This is a full time role for 8am-5pm shifts/5 days per week.

Compensation

Minimum: $84,000 per year Maximum: $94,000 per year contingent upon years of experience.

Key Duties

• Examine gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
• Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums.
• Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental decay.
• Provide clinical services or health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.
• Noting and reviewing patient medical history, and looking for indications of oral cancer.
