Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Dental Hygienist to join our dental team at 7500 Cambridge St., Houston, TX 77054. You will perform prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, radiographs, and patient education, collaborating with dentists, residents, and staff to ensure high-quality care.

The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping in the EHR, scheduling, referrals, and ongoing CPR/BLS readiness in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Licensed Dental Hygienist by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required.
• CPR certification by ARC or AHA required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Completion of an approved dental hygiene training program required.
• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs dental prophylaxis and periodontal maintenance and conducts education programs.
• Performs periodontal exams, intra-oral exams and radiographs under dentist supervision.
• Maintains accurate patient records in the EHR system.
• Schedules appointments, referrals, and recalls; coordinates care with the dental team.
• Delivers home-care instructions and patient education.
• Coordinates education programs for students and residents; presents brushing demonstrations.
• Responds to emergencies and maintains CPR/BLS readiness.
