Job summary

Family Health Care in Baldwin Township is seeking a skilled dental assistant for an on-call role. You will perform prophylaxis, take oral x-rays, apply sealants, and assist with impressions while providing essential patient hygiene instruction and education.

You may also participate in community education and topical fluoride programs and handle phone communications for patients and billing. The position supports supervision of colleagues and QA initiatives, with duties including maintaining

Qualifications

• Performs prophylaxis, oral x-rays, sealants and impressions.
• Provides and conducts oral hygiene instruction and education.
• May conduct community education and topical fluoride programs.
• May phone patients to relay information and assist other dental functions including office and billing.
• May supervise others and participate in quality assurance and in-service training.
• Maintains sterile area and prepares new patients and emergency exams.
• Records full mouth probing depths and PSR scores.

Responsibilities

• Perform prophylaxis, x-rays, sealants and impressions.
• Provide oral hygiene instruction and education to patients.
• Assist with community education and topical fluoride programs.
• Assist with office tasks including billing and patient communications.
• Supervise staff and participate in QA and training.
• Maintain dental operatory, sterilization and equipment upkeep.
• Prepare new patients and emergency exams as needed.
• Record periodontal measurements (PSR) and probing depths.

Description:

• Performs prophylaxis on patients, oral x-rays, sealants and take impressions.
• Provides and conducts oral hygiene instruction and education according to patient needs.
• May conduct community education and topical fluoride programs.
• May phone patients to give information and assist other assigned dental functions including office and billing.
• May supervise others.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and in-service training.
• Changes solutions in x-ray developer and keeps machine maintained as well as the operatory and equipment.
• May maintain the sterile area, help set up trays.
• May prepare new patient and emergency exams.
• May perform S/RP on periodontally involved patients.
• Record full mouth probing depths and PSR scores.
