Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene program; NYS license required.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine dental cleanings to remove plaque and tartar.
  • Conduct root planing and scaling to treat periodontal disease.
  • Carry out dental prophylaxis to maintain oral health.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and preventive care.
  • Record and update patients' medical history and treatment in the dental records.
  • Chart preliminary examination findings including pockets, attachment loss, and lesions.
  • Adhere to HIPAA standards and infection control guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly operatory and assist as needed by the Dental Department Manager.

Team Overview:

As part of Aizer’s Dental Department, the Dental Hygienist, under the supervision and direction of the Dental Director and Staff dentist(s), renders oral prophylaxis and fluoride treatments and instructs patients in proper brushing and flossing techniques. This requires a level of professionalism, courtesy and effectiveness in making the patient’s experience when visiting Aizer a positive one.

Flexible Hours:

Monday - Thursday between the hours of 4 pm - 11pm

Position Overview:
  • Perform routine dental cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup
  • Conduct root planning and scaling procedures to treat and prevent periodontal disease
  • Carry out dental prophylaxis to maintain oral health and prevent cavities and gum disease
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
  • Recording and updating patient’s medical history
  • Record all treatment rendered, patient education, and teaching in the dental record and date/sign each entry
  • Record preliminary examination of the oral cavity, including charting of:
    • Periodontal pockets
    • Attachment loss
    • Description of soft tissue condition
    • Caries and other lesions
    • Existing restorations and missing teeth
    • Classifying occlusion and identifying contributing factors for presentation to the dentist
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA standards and regulations in managing or handling patient information or inquiries
  • Keep dental operatory areas clean and orderly
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures and infection control guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Department Practice Manager
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene school; currently licensed and registered in NYS
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with computers, electronic medical records software, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred

  • Starting at $50 per hour, commensurate with experience
