Job summary

NYSDO Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Dental Hygienist to provide compassionate oral care for the developmentally disabled population under a licensed dentist’s supervision. You will perform exams, prophylaxis, scaling, radiographs, fluoride and sealants, and educate patients and aides in preventive care.

You will work with a dental assistant when available, assist chair-side, ensure OSHA compliance, maintain documentation, and occasionally travel to service

Qualifications

• Possession of a license and current registration to practice dental hygiene in New York State.
• Transfer: eligibility for lateral transfer or via Civil Service sections; see GOT‑IT for mobility guidance.
• Requirement to meet minimum qualifications for the posted title.

Responsibilities

• Perform dental hygiene procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
• Carry out prophylaxis, scaling, curing, radiographs, fluoride, SDF, and sealants.
• Educate patients and aides in oral health and preventive care in-office.
• Assist the dentist chair-side and maintain OSHA-compliant tools and equipment.
• Travel to alternate locations to provide services as needed.
