Working Title: DENTAL HYGIENIST - 64082483

Performs clinical examination of patients both visually and by oral x-ray survey. Performs oral prophylaxis to patients including supragingival scaling, polishing, and application of topical fluoride solutions. Applies dental sealants.

Removes calculus deposits, accretions, and stains from exposed surfaces of the teeth and gingival sulcus. Performs root planning and curettage as required.

Records findings and treatment in the patient dental record.

Refers patients for further dental services beyond their scope of practice or beyond what Health Department does.

Provides preventative instructions to patients in proper techniques of self-care, such as toothbrushing and dental flossing.

Manages, oversees, maintains, and implements the school-based sealant program with other dental staff for the Dental Program at DOH Nassau County. Will need to drive to sites throughout the county to conduct the sealant program.

  • Knowledge of dental hygienists and public health principles, practices, and techniques

  • Ability to maintain accurate and appropriate documentation in ele4ctronic dental medical system

Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • Current License as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Florida
  • Experience providing dental hygiene care to adults and children
  • Experience in providing Dental Hygiene Education to children and adults
Preferred:
  • 2 or more years of experience as Dental Hygienist in a Dental Office
  • Current and Active CPR Certification
