Job summary

Smoky Mountain Dentistry seeks a licensed dental hygienist to perform licensed hygiene procedures, educate patients, and manage the nonsurgical periodontal program under the dentist's direction.

You will establish ongoing patient care, document health histories, educate patients on oral health, and collaborate with the doctor on treatment planning. Proficiency with dental software and commitment to infection control are required.

Qualifications

• Dental hygiene certification from an accredited dental hygiene school.
• Current hygiene license where employed.
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS and infection control training as required by law.
• Experience with dental software.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain continued patient care relationships.
• Verify/document patient health history and educate patients about oral hygiene/health/disease as well as procedures and services offered.
• Perform clinical hygiene functions including exposing/evaluating diagnostic x-rays, taking and recording blood pressure, prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and co-assessing possible restorative treatments with the doctor.
• Determine needs and perform sealant placement, Arestin, and fluoride treatments as needed.
