Job summary

Providence Community Health seeks a licensed Dental Hygienist to assess, plan and deliver direct dental care in a Rhode Island community clinic. You will perform routine hygiene procedures, radiographs, sealants and fluoride applications, and educate patients under supervision of a dentist.

The role supports public health objectives with a Monday–Thursday schedule (4x10, 40 hours weekly) and requires active RI licensure and a dental hygiene degree.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Dental Hygiene.
• Active Local Anesthesia Licensure.
• Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in Rhode Island.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a community ambulatory dental clinic (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assess dental condition and needs using charting, medical history, and vital signs as required.
• Deliver direct patient care: cleaning, polishing, X-rays, sealants, and fluoride applications.
• Develop and implement individualized dental care plans and provide patient education under dentist supervision.

Assess, plan and deliver direct dental care and associated services to dental patients, utilizing PCHC established dental hygiene protocol and procedures.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Dental Hygiene.
• Active Local Anesthesia Licensure
• Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Rhode Island.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in a community ambulatory dental clinic environment emphasizing Public Health strongly preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess dental condition and needs of patient; uses patient screening procedures, to include medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal charting; takes patient vital signs as required.
• Deliver direct patient care to patients as assigned, using established dental hygienist procedures; performs routine treatment procedures, such as cleaning, polishing, x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides, and related procedures.
• Develop and implements individualized dental care plans for patients; performs patient education, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching under the supervision of a qualified dentist.
