Job summary

HealthNet is seeking a Dental Hygienist to work with the dentist and team to provide patient screenings, cleanings, X-ray imaging, and clinical documentation. You will counsel patients on oral hygiene and nutrition, with an emphasis on serving an underserved community in Indianapolis, IN.

New grads are encouraged to apply. Indiana license required; CPR can be obtained after employment. Local anesthesia knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene and license to practice in Indiana.
• CPR certification (can be obtained after employment).
• Local Anesthetic knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of medical problems/diagnosis requiring antibiotic pre-medication.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients and perform dental cleanings.

What you’ll do as a Dental Hygienist at HealthNet

The Dental Hygienist position works with the dentist and dental team to meet the oral health needs of patients by performing patient screenings, taking dental x rays, providing dental cleanings, performing clinical documentation, counseling patients on oral hygiene instruction and nutrition. Treat an underserved community in a patient care focused setting!

HealthNet provides dedicated appointment time to each patient.

• 45 minutes for prophylaxis
• 1 hour for perio maintenance
• 1 hour per quadrant of SRP

***Additional time provided for dental exams and x-rays

When you’ll work as a Dental Hygienist at HealthNet

• Full-Time – Guaranteed full-time hours when Dentist is unavailable.
• Mondays: 10am-7pm with lunch scheduled at 2-3pm
• Tuesday - Fridays: 8am-5pm with lunch scheduled at 12-1pm

Requirements

What you’ll need as a Dental Hygienist at HealthNet

• New Grads are encouraged to apply!
• Currently not sponsoring for work visa.
• Requires graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene and license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Indiana. Eligible to obtain license in state of Indiana.
• CPR certification – can be obtained after employment.
• Local Anesthetic preferred.
• Requires knowledge of medical problems/diagnosis that may necessitate antibiotic pre-medication.
• Detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the mouth and teeth.
• Recognize the need for various x-ray's for review by the dentist.

• Ability to lift, push, and or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight is required.
• Reliable transportation required.

Physical Requirement

• Works primarily inside, in a normal dental office environment and hospital operatory setting.
• Able to be involved in degrees of prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, and stooping; as well as abilities of repeated bending, stooping and squatting.
• Able to lift, push, and/or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight up to 20-30 pounds is a necessary function of this position.
• Must be able to position and move patients following safety standards.
• Able to perform duties during periods of varied and/or prolonged work hours.
• Will be exposed to all patient elements.
• Must have good eyesight with or without correction (20/30).
• Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in the English language by both orally and written.
