Job summary

Kalihi-Palama Health Center in Honolulu, Hawaii is seeking a licensed Dental Hygienist to perform all phases of dental hygiene, educate patients on oral health, and support preventive care in a community health setting. Requirements include a Hawaii Dental Hygiene license, CPR certification, and a diploma from a U.S.

accredited school. One year of public health experience is preferred, and Chinese language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii Dental Hygiene License or Community Service Dental Hygiene License required.
• CPR certification required.
• Fluent in Chinese language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of Dental Hygiene with accordance to the State board.
• Counsel with patients regarding conditions, treatment and maintenance.
• Educate patients in oral hygiene.
• Promote preventive recall.
• Take radiographs (conventional and digital).
• Facilitate referrals to specialists.
• Apply fissure sealants.
• Document all oral conditions.
• Monitor periodontal condition on a regular basis.
• Develop tentative treatment plan for dentist to review.
• Follows OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control.
• Follow templates and document all procedures and conditions in Dentrix.
• Participate in peer review, chart audit and case presentation.

Perform a variety of dental hygiene duties to promote quality dental care.

Essential Duties:

Clinical Services:

• Perform all phases of Dental Hygiene with accordance to the State board.
• Counsel with patients regarding, conditions treatment and maintenance.
• Educate patients in oral hygiene.
• Promote preventive recall
• Take radiographs (conventional and digital)
• Facilitate referrals to specialists
• Apply fissure sealants
• Document all oral conditions
• Monitor periodontal condition on a regular basis (probing depths, etc.)
• Develop tentative treatment plan for dentist to review
• Follows OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control

Administrative

• Follow templates and document all procedures and conditions in Dentrix
• Participate in peer review, chart audit and case presentation

Regular and reliable attendance is required

Other Duties:

Perform other related duties as assigned

• Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:

Current Hawaii Dental Hygiene License or Community Service Dental Hygiene License required

CPR certification required

Fluent in Chinese language preferred

Education:

Diploma from a U. S. accredited Dental Hygiene school required

Experience:

1 year of experience in public health setting (in any capacity) preferred
