Covenant Community Care in Detroit, MI is seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to provide preventative dental care within our integrated clinic setting. You will work under the supervision of dentists, collaborating with the dental team to deliver high-quality patient care.

The role requires Michigan licensure, 2+ years of experience, and a valid Michigan driver's license with reliable transportation. Background checks are part of the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Must hold State licensure as a dental hygienist.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a dental environment.
• Valid State of Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Clean teeth and examine patients for signs of oral diseases.
• Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity preventing agents.
• Examine gums and use probes to locate periodontal recession and disease signs.
• Screen for oral cancer signs by palpation and visual exam.
• Take and develop dental x-rays.
• Chart decay and disease for dentist diagnosis and treatment.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
• Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
• Assist dentists with procedures as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date patient records and manage patient flow.

We are seeking new team members to join our dental clinics.

Job Description

Our dental hygienist is responsible for providing preventative dental care to patients. They work closely with dentists to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Reporting to the Dental Manager, and under the supervision of dentists, the hygienist is responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental clinic, ranging from patient care to administrative duties to laboratory functions. The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following skills:

Responsibilities

• Clean teeth and examine patients for signs of oral diseases.
• Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity preventing agents to arrest/prevent dental decay.
• Examine gums, using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
• Feel and visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease.
• Feel lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer.
• Take and develop dental x-rays.
• Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
• Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments.
• Assist dentists with procedures as needed.
• Maintain patient records and ensure that they are up-to-date.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.

Required Qualifications

• State licensure as a dental hygienist.
• 2+ years of experience in a dental environment
• Valid State of Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Spanish/English bilingual is a plus; but not required
