Job summary

First Flight Health Centers is seeking a dental hygienist to support the Dental Director and Dentists, with a schedule of two days per week.

You will perform prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, radiographs, and periodontal procedures while educating patients and supporting the dental team.

Qualifications

• Current Ohio Dental Hygiene License is required.
• Two- or four-year degree in dental hygiene or related experience may be accepted.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook and Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide oral prophylaxis instruction for home care techniques.
• Perform topical fluoride treatment.
• Screen patients for caries, periodontal pathology and medical history.
• Expose, process and mount radiographs.

Job description

The dental hygienist is responsible for performing those duties that assist the Dental Director or the Dentists in the care and treatment of patients. This position will be working two days per week.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform oral prophylaxis instruction for proper home care techniques for oral hygiene.
• Perform topical fluoride treatment.
• Screen and evaluate patients regarding caries detection, periodontal pathology and medical history.
• Exposing, processing, and mounting of radiographs.
• Supra and sub gingival scaling and curettage.
• Root planning.
• Perform procedures involving team periodontal surgical techniques.
• Provide gross debridement in treatment of acute periodontal conditions.
• Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of the dental prevention and dental education program.
• Assist in training of dental assistants and other staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Experience Or Licensure/Registration

• Current State of Ohio Dental Hygiene License
• Two or four-year college degree from a college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
