Job summary

Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc. is seeking a Dental Hygienist to provide direct patient care and educate patients on oral hygiene.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program.
• New York State dental hygiene registration certificate.
• One year of experience in a general dental practice preferred; three years in a community healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including prophylaxis, examinations, fluoride applications, sealants, scaling and root planing.
• Develop and expose radiographs.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and health.
• Clean and disinfect the dental operatory.
• Clean and sterilize dental instruments.
• Assist with inventory of dental supplies.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and making appointments.
• Work independently with flexibility and integrity while collaborating with patients and staff.
• Relate to patients of all ages and life situations professionally.
• Pursue continuing education to refine dental hygiene skills.
• Participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities as needed.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This role requires a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program with a New York State dental hygiene registration certificate. One year of experience in a general dental practice setting is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care, including prophylaxis, examinations, topical fluoride applications, dental sealants, scaling, root planing, and other patient services as permitted under state law.
• Develop and expose radiographs.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and health.
• Clean and disinfect the dental operatory.
• Clean and sterilize dental instruments.
• Assist with inventory of dental supplies.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and making appointments.
• Work independently with flexibility and personal integrity while effectively working with patients and staff.
• Relate to patients of all ages and life situations in a professional manner.
• Continually refine dental hygiene skills through continuing education courses, literature, etc.
• Participate in and contribute to Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities and functions as needed.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned or requested.
