Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
• Active, valid dental hygiene license in good standing as required by the state of practice.
• Solid clinical skills in cleanings, scaling, and preventive care procedures.
• Strong communication skills with patients and coworkers.
• Attention to detail and a genuine commitment to patient comfort and care.
• Good organizational and time-management habits.
• Comfort using dental practice software and digital imaging systems.
• A professional approach to patient confidentiality and safety.
• CPR certification, as required

Responsibilities

• Performing dental cleanings, scaling, and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
• Reviewing patient dental and medical histories to identify any relevant health concerns.
• Taking and processing dental X-rays and other diagnostic images as needed.
• Conducting oral health assessments and screening for signs of gum disease, decay, or other conditions.
• Applying preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants.
• Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and personalized home care routines.
• Documenting patient care and treatment notes accurately in dental software.
• Communicating findings and observations to the dentist to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Maintaining sterilization and infection control standards in accordance with regulations.
• Collaborating with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative staff to keep patient visits running smoothly.
• Staying up to date on best practices, materials, and techniques in dental hygiene.
