Job summary

Summer Dental Norman is seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to help keep patients comfortable in the chair while performing a range of patient care, office, and lab duties.

You will prepare patients for hygiene procedures, sterilize instruments, set up trays, handle scheduling and billing, maintain records, and work with the dental team to support perio charting and exams. Strong computer skills are needed.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Dental Hygiene Assistant or similar role.
• Comfort with scheduling, billing, and record-keeping.
• Able to sterilize and disinfect instruments and prepare materials.
• Proficient with computer-based patient management systems.

Responsibilities

• Expose dental diagnostic X-Rays
• Record treatment information in patient records
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs
• Polish teeth and assist in cleaning and polishing removable appliances
• Assist hygienist with periodontal charting and doctor’s exam
• Apply fluoride coating and place sealants as prescribed
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control
• Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dental hygienists and dentists.
