Job description

The Clinical Team Leader is responsible for the performance of the clinical team at all times while doing limited Dental Assisting of the dentist. This position is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, discipline, and making termination recommendations with respect to his/her team. This position is responsible for fostering communication between his/her team and upper management/owners, monitoring systems, attending department head meetings, and leading team meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be able to juggle being an Overflow Dental Assistant while also managing a team of 8-10 clinical team members.
  • Responsible for hiring, motivating, developing and supporting the clinical staff.
  • Conducts orientation sessions for new hires, and identifies ongoing continuing education needs and opportunities.
  • Ensures all clinical team members are HIPAA trained.
  • Coordinates staffing, scheduling and vacation requests for his/her team.
  • Coordinates and runs clinical trainings monthly
  • Ensures supply budget is hit at a 4% of office collections monthly
  • Ensures lab budget is hit at no more than 9% of office collections monthly
  • Fills in KPI scorecard weekly and has a game plan for any areas off track weekly to the owner
  • Handles clinical problems and reports to the Owner
  • Observe and evaluate workers' performance and appearance to ensure quality service and compliance with policies. Issue corrective coaching, oral and written, as appropriate to communicate practice standards and protect the practice from liability.
  • Supervises HIPAA, OSHA, and policy compliance.
  • Ensures patient records are accurately and timely entered.
  • Makes recommendations as to terminations and attends termination meetings.
  • Resolves conflicts between members of the clinical team.
  • Responds to inquiries and assignments from the Doctors/Owner
  • Analyzes protocols and recommends procedural or policy changes to improve clinical operations
  • Sets goals for the clinical team and ensures they hit them while problem solving
  • Monitor and inspect clinical areas, equipment, and sterilization processes to ensure safety.
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments for self and subordinates.
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
  • Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing education or seminars.
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to minimize drama within the clinical team and handle problems in a professional manner
  • Must be comfortable seeing and able to maintain a professional demeanor and attitude while working around blood and unpleasant smells.
  • Willing to cover or assist other staff members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum two-years of experience in dental office setting; preferred four-year experience in dental office setting.
