Job summary

Coast Dental is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions (EFDA) certification to support dentists in delivering patient care and education. Florida-specific licensure such as an EFDA, RDA, or CDA prior to 2009 is required or obtained after hire. The position emphasizes accurate charting, patient communication, and collaborative teamwork

Qualifications

• Active Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification
• Or if assisting in Florida, a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certificate obtained prior to May 2009

Responsibilities

• Assist in clinical procedures and treatments.
• Learn and comply with Coast's administrative procedures.
• Learn and comply with OSHA laws and safety guidelines.
• Maintain MSDS.
• Follow infection control standards in the dental office, including PPE, disinfection and sterilization, and proper disposal of contaminated waste.
• Document and chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit.
• Welcome and escort patients in reception to and from treatment areas and assist in appointment coordination.
• Explain insurance benefits and financial options to patients in nonclinical terms.
• Ensure operatories are stocked and equipment is maintained.
• Notify Office Manager of equipment issues or safety concerns.
• Assist with laboratory duties as necessary.
• Recognize signs of dental emergencies and respond promptly.
