NYU Langone Health's Family Health Centers is seeking a Dental Assistant for School Based Health - Floating to support multiple sites. The role includes four-handed dentistry, radiographs, instrument sterilization, and patient comfort care in a fast-paced dental team.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma, 1 year chairside experience, and BLS certification. The role requires adherence to infection control standards and effective communication within the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1 year experience of chairside dental assisting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to the dentist, utilizing proper four handed dentistry procedures and observing universal precautions/protocols and sterile techniques.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age related criteria.
• Pours and trims patient study models in the dental laboratory and completes laboratory forms.
• Documents patient records as dictated by dentist and assists with charts and forms.
• Sterilizes and/or disinfects instruments and hand pieces following infection control guidelines.
• Cleans instruments and prepares them for sterilization.
• Maintains a clean and organized dental operatory and ensures supplies are available.
• Takes, exposes, develops and mounts radiographs when applicable.
• Adheres to OSHA guidelines and department infection control standards.
