Job summary

University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Dental Medicine seeks a Dental Assistant in the Preventive and Restorative Sciences division. The role involves direct patient care and front desk duties across two locations: Penn Dental Medicine at 240 S. 40th St.

and PHMC Cedar campus, with duties including radiography and charting under the supervision of senior staff. Requirements include technical school certification, 3+ years in a dental setting, DANB RHS exam, and CPR/BLS.

Qualifications

  • Technical School or certification beyond high school required with minimum 3 years of practical dental care experience.
  • Must have passed the national DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam to operate dental x-ray equipment.
  • Current CPR certification and BLS required.
  • Experience in a higher education dental setting is a plus; knowledge of EHR systems is required.
  • Background checks may be required after a conditional job offer.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients, obtains medical history and vitals, and prepares patients for treatment.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
  • Exposes and mounts digital x-rays and takes panoramic x-rays when necessary.
  • Educates patients with oral hygiene and treatment plan instructions and schedules follow-up visits.
