Job summary

Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley in San Jose, CA seeks a Registered Dental Assistant to support the Dental Department under the supervision of the Dental Director and staff dentists. You will assist the dentist, manage sterilization, coordinate clinic flow, and collaborate with the front desk.

Responsibilities include charting dental information, inventory management, and possible sealant duties if certified.

Qualifications

• Education denoting specialized knowledge of dental practices, procedures, and terminology.
• Must possess X-ray license, and coronal polishing certificate; licensure or pursuit of licensure.
• Experience charting dental information.
• At least one-year internship in dental assisting and one year of experience.
• Sensitivity to health care needs and culture of American Indians.
• Ability to supervise other employees and interface well with co-workers.
• Strong customer and results orientation; able to interact with diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as a team; manage multiple admin functions.
• Knowledge of office systems; Windows environment; Microsoft Office Suite; Publisher; Photoshop.
• Possession of CA Driver License, automobile insurance, and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assists the dentist.
• Performs sterilization and prepares operatories.
• Coordinates operation of the dental dept, clinic flow, equipment and operatories.
• Works with and helps the Dental Receptionist.
• Inventory and orders required materials and supplies.
• Cross-trained for front desk functions and fills in as needed.
• Performs all RDA functions as directed by the dental director.
• Performs sealant duties if certified and applicable.
• Follows OSHA infection control and safety policies.
• Keeps operatories in accordance with Bloodborne Pathogens Policy.
• Contributes to smooth functioning of the Dental Department.
• Follows Policies and Procedures Manual; punctual and prepared.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Dental Director.
