Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS) in Saint Joseph, Michigan, seeks a PRN Dental Assistant to support the dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, and records at the Berrien County Jail. Working 1 day per week for 4–5 hours, you will assist during treatment and ensure operatory readiness and infection control.

The role requires at least one year of dental assistant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and current CPR certification, with eligibility for security clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year dental assistant experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen.
• Assists dentist during treatment, providing instruments, material retraction or suction. Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients.
• Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prosthetic dentistry.
• Develops and mounts routine radiographs. Maintains dental charts and records of dental findings.
• Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other infection control practices.
• Inventories and orders supplies to maintain proper levels.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
