Job summary

Lighthouse Dental Care in Stratford, Connecticut seeks a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team in a team-based setting with a high level of patient care.

The role requires completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program, 1 year of on-the-job experience, and X-Ray certification; Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
  • 1 year on-the-job-experience.
  • X-Ray certification - Required.
  • Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
  • Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  • Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Education

One-year certified dental assistant program
X-Ray certification
Nitrous Oxide certification
High school diploma or equivalent
