Job summary

The Chautauqua Center in Jamestown, NY is seeking a Dental Assistant to prepare treatment rooms, assist the dentist, sterilize and pass instruments, and help with radiographs and patient education.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or higher in health field preferred.
• Infection control required.
• Ability to work as part of a team required.
• Current CPR certification.
• One year ambulatory or public health experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Leadership and organizational skills essential.
• Bilingual especially in Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of medical/dental office practices, procedures, and equipment.
• Knowledge of problem-oriented record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Prepares treatment room for patient by following procedures and protocols.
• Welcomes, seats, and drapes patient for treatment.
• Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments.
• Places materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth.
• Exposes and develops radiographic studies and processes casts.
• Fabricates temporary restorations and maintains appliances.
• Maintains infection-control practices and confidentiality.
• Assists patients and families, answers questions, educates on oral hygiene.
• Documents dental care services in patient records.
• Maintains equipment and supplies; order and inventory management.
