Qualifications

  • Massachusetts Dental Assisting License is required.
  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Completion of annual continuing education units is required.
  • Hepatitis vaccination as recommended by CDC is required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and close down sterilization room daily.
  • Review patient charts and health history with patients, updating as needed.
  • Ensure units are ready, stocked, and clean at the start of each appointment.
  • Greet and escort patient to operatory, assist doctors during procedures.
  • Take extraoral and intraoral x-rays as needed.
  • Provide patient education and post-operative instructions.
  • Pour impressions and fabricate appliances as needed.
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization and maintain equipment.
  • Assist in use and maintenance of autoclave, statim, ultrasonic, suction, and x-ray units.
  • Document patient procedures and charges in the chart.
  • Dismissing patient at end of visit and coordinating scheduling information.
  • Inventory supplies and maintain ordering system.
  • Participate in staff development and adhere to CDA/OSHA/HIPAA policies.
