Job summary

Kimball & Beecher in Iowa is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant to join our Oral Surgery team as an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant. The role travels between Kimball & Beecher offices across Iowa, including Waterloo, Des Moines, and others.

You will assist the Oral Surgeon during surgical procedures, prepare rooms and instruments, maintain infection control, and take digital radiographs while keeping patients comfortable throughout their visits.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in Iowa is required.
• Dental assisting experience is preferred.
• Willing to train the right candidate in oral surgery.
• Strong communication and patient care skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Oral Surgeon during oral surgery and surgical procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures.
• Maintain infection control and sterile technique.
• Take digital dental radiographs as needed.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide pre- and post-operative instructions.
• Monitor patients and communicate concerns to the dental team.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure equipment is properly maintained.

What You’ll Do

As an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Oral Surgeon and providing a positive experience for patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist the Oral Surgeon during oral surgery and surgical dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures
• Maintain appropriate infection control and sterile technique
• Take digital dental radiographs as needed
• Prepare patients for procedures and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit
• Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions
• Monitor patients and communicate concerns to the Oral Surgeon and dental team
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient records
• Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly prepared and maintained
• Communicate effectively with dental teams at each office location
• Help maintain an organized, clean, and efficient surgical environment

What We’re Looking For

• Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in Iowa required
• Dental assisting experience preferred
• Previous oral surgery or surgical dental experience is a plus
• Willing to train the right Dental Assistant who is interested in oral surgery
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Compassionate and professional chairside manner

This is a traveling oral surgery position supporting our Oral Surgeon at multiple Kimball & Beecher offices throughout Iowa.
