Lorain County Health & Dentistry in North Ridgeville, OH is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join a collaborative team and support patient care. This role emphasizes four‑handed dentistry, room preparation, and accurate recordkeeping to ensure excellent service.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed a dental assistant program and Ohio Radiograph permit eligibility.
• BLS certification required; valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a dental care guide and ensure patient comfort.
• Welcome and drape patients; review medical/oral history.
• Record vital signs and educate patients on oral health.
• Prepare and sterilize treatment rooms and equipment following protocols.
• Demonstrate proficiency in 4-handed dentistry across procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and HIPAA compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Serve as a dental care guide to patients and make every reasonable effort to make patients as comfortable as possible.
• Welcome and drape the patient.
• Review patient’s medical and oral history.
• Elicit relevant information from patient/caregiver regarding current and prior conditions or ailments.
• Measure and record patient vital signs.
• Educate patients and their caregivers on recommended techniques to improve and maintain good oral health.
• Prepare treatment rooms, tools, and equipment according to LCH&D protocols.
• Clean treatment rooms, tools, and equipment after procedures according to LCH&D protocols.
• Must demonstrate clinical competency in all 4 handed dental procedures including but not limited to: Preventative Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery Procedures, Endodontics, Diagnostic Radiographs.
• Must demonstrate competency in the role as “floater” and demonstrate good time management.
• Promote good health throughout the facility in conversation and behavior.
• Must maintain accurate records.
• Comply with HIPAA guidelines as all times
• Must maintain infection control standards at all times per organization policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Fine and gross motor skills will be frequently employed.
• Some lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• 20% walking or standing, 80% sitting at a desk.
• Category I re: exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed a dental assistant program, and have an Ohio State Dental Radiograph permit or eligibility for a permit.
• Must have BLS certification
• Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
