Job summary

Shawnee Health in Southern Illinois seeks a Dental Assistant to support dental offices rotating between Carbondale and Marion. Reports to the Assistant Health Center Manager and assists the dentist chairside, prepares materials, and ensures patient comfort.

Requirements include a Dental Assisting Program graduate, BLS/CPR, and an Illinois driver’s license. Starting pay ranges from $17.60 to $30.00 per hour, with a full benefits package for full-time employees.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Dental Assisting Program/clinical component.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the work area for dental procedures and gathers equipment.
• Greets patient and guardian and escorts to operatory; explains services.
• Reviews medical/dental history and notes changes for dentist.
• Assists dentist at chairside with treatments and instruments.
• Captures and saves digital radiographs; takes temporary crown impressions.
• Performs patient education including treatment plans and post-op care.
