Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a Fulltime Dental Assistant to support daily clinical operations in a busy dental clinic. The role involves cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing instruments and rooms, aiding radiograph production, and maintaining supplies.

You will assist in patient movement and clinic opening/closing procedures. Preferred candidates have a Dental Assistant program and current Texas registration, plus Heartsaver CPR within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of dental assisting techniques and equipment.
• Must communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff and the public.
• Knowledge of oral surgery instruments and reconstructive procedures.
• Capable of maintaining accurate records and patient data.
• Able to meet needs of age-related and handicapped patients.
• Skilled in taking radiographs, BP checks, D-sticks, sterilizing equipment and instrument recognition.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to dentists by cleaning, sterilizing and arranging instruments, equipment and rooms.
• Assist in the production of radiographs.
• Maintain stocks and supplies and support patient movement and flow.
• Open and close the clinic and ensure clean, ready treatment rooms.

*Schedule: Fulltime Days, Monday-Friday (8am-4pm)

Primary Purpose

Provides clinical support functions to dentists by: cleaning, sterilizing and arranging instruments, equipment and rooms; supporting the production of radiographs; maintaining necessary stocks and supplies; moving and monitoring patients; and generally opening and closing the clinic.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

• Prefer completion of a Dental Assistant program.

Experience:

• None.

Equivalent Experience:

• None.

Certification/Registration/Licensure :

• Must have current Dental Assistant registration with Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
• Must have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
• American Heart Association
• American Red Cross
• Military Training Network

Skills or Special Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff and the general public.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of dental assisting techniques and equipment.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of oral surgery instruments and reconstructive surgery on patients.

• Must be able to demonstrate skill in taking radiographs, blood pressure, D-sticks, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and in recognizing the names of instruments and the order in which they are used.
