Job summary

Axiom Dentistry in Louisburg, NC is seeking a Dental Assistant II to support our dentists and hygienists, ensuring smooth patient visits and high-quality care.

As a Dental Assistant II, you will prep treatment areas, educate patients on oral hygiene, and assist with various procedures in a fast-paced, fun environment. Schedule: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One full year of dental experience is preferred.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• X-Ray Certification is required.
• DAII certification is required.
• Coronal Polishing Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients by resolving questions and guiding them as directed by the dentist.
• Prepare treatment areas timely and assist the dentist during procedures.
• Maintain infection control and sterilize all instruments and equipment.
• Maintain operatory supplies and assist with inventory control and ordering.
• Complete checklists and participate in daily huddles to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist with clinical and administrative tasks as time permits.
• Assist Dentist in advanced procedures such as crown/bridge prep, oral surgery and endodontics.
• Handle lab procedures including impressions, model trimming, mouth guard fabrication, temporary crowns and retainers.
• Educate patients with post-op care and oral hygiene instructions.
• Schedule follow-up appointments as required.
• Provide proper handoffs to admin staff and communicate ongoing treatment needs.
• Conduct post-op follow-up calls for invasive procedures such as extractions, crowns, or root canals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties:

• Assist patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions, and giving directions to patients as authorized by the dentist. Collect and record all patient health history.
• Timely preparation of treatment area by sterilizing and properly setting for procedures. Serves as dentist’s chair-side assistant including delivering instruments and materials for dentist’s access.
• Maintains dental department equipment and work areas in compliance with policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues, including the sterilization of all reusable dental instruments and equipment and the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials
• Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list for inventory control and ordering purposes.
• Completes checklists as assigned and participates in daily huddles to ensure that every single day flows smoothly.
• Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the office as appropriate and as time permits and instructed.
• Assists Dentist in advanced procedures such as crown/bridge prep, oral surgery procedures, and endodontic treatment.
• Handle laboratory procedures such as pouring impressions, model trimming, fabricating mouth guards, temporary crowns, retainers, and other appliances as well as case management follow up. This shall include the correct documentation needed for lab slips and contact with the dental laboratory companies.
• Handle patient education such as post op instructions, oral hygiene instruction, consent forms and other forms of clinical education.
• Scheduling of follow up appointments when required.
• Provide a proper handoff to the administration staff and properly communicate ongoing treatment needs.
• Each night, make post up follow up calls to any patients having invasive procedures such as extractions, crowns, or root canals.
• Any other duties as assigned
