Job summary

New Bedford Community Health is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our patient-centered team in New Bedford, MA. The role involves chair-side support, preparing operatories, maintaining infection control, and coordinating referrals within a diverse community.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 40 hours, with a flexible start between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm. We offer education reimbursement, strong benefits, and paid time off; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Massachusetts License to practice as a dental assistant required.
• One year experience preferred.
• Current CPR/AED certification required.
• Dental radiology certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operatories for patient treatment with instruments and materials.
• Maintains a safe, clean workspace following infection control policies.
• Assists chair-side, records charting, and completes lab tasks.
• Monitors inventory and ensures clinical equipment functions.
• Disinfects and sterilizes instruments; re-sterilizes autoclave bags.
• Operates autoclave and runs spor tests as required.
• Coordinates specialty referrals as needed.
• Assists dental hygienist; performs expanded function duties as assigned.
