Job description

We are recruiting for Dental Assistants (DA) and Registered Dental Assistants (RDA) to join one of our health centers.

Experienced DAs or new Dental Assistant graduates are welcomed. We also offer higher pay for Registered Dental Assistants.

Our Dental Assistants provide a positive patient experience and excellent quality care. They work closely with dentists and supervisors to ensure patients are calm, dentists are prepared, and information is communicated clearly. They can expect to prepare and arrange needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures, hand necessary tools and equipment, and provide assistance during treatment. They chart findings, change barriers, and sterilize equipment.

Works closely with the RDA Supervisor and other members of the clinic management team to:

  • Provide prompt dental support; promote a smooth patient flow; collect and record data accurately; maintain order of the back office, equipment and supplies.
  • Achieve the organizational mission to provide health care access for all members of the community. Help ensure patients and families receive the care they need when they need it.
  • Consistently and openly communicate with supervisor and all staff.
  • Work flexible or extended hours where necessary.
  • Participate in health center in‑services and meetings, listening and respecting others’ ideas.
  • Abide by rules of confidentiality.
Education
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Completed training program in Dental Assisting from an accredited college.
  • X‑Ray certificate required.
  • Coronal polish certificate required.
  • CPR card required.
License/Certification
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
Prior Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience, preferred.
Skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; a team player.
  • Customer‑service oriented.
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques.
  • Positive professional insight.
  • Flexibility and dependability.
  • Demonstrated good problem‑solving skills; sound judgment.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in‑person, and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work, and be able to bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn.

The hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at $21 an hour. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
