Job summary

Centerville Dental Center in Centerville, OH is looking for a Dental Assistant to join our established practice. You will work directly with our dentists to support chairside care, imaging, and patient comfort, in a friendly, patient-focused environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience, a valid Dental Radiography certificate, HS diploma, CPR/BLS (preferred), and familiarity with Open Dental.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience as a dental assistant.
• Valid Dental Radiography (X-ray) certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred).
• Experience with dental practice management software (Open Dental is a strong plus).
• Attention to detail, time management, adaptability and strong interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Chairside Assisting: Support dentists during general and restorative procedures.
• Imaging & Diagnostics: Expose and process diagnostic dental radiographs.
• Lab Procedures: Take dental impressions and pour/trim stone models.
• Operatory Management: Set up, break down, and restock operatories between visits.
• Sterilization & Safety: Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control.
• Patient Communication: Review medical histories and provide post-operative care instructions.
• Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.

What You Will Do

As a key partner in our daily clinical operations, you will work directly alongside our dentists to ensure seamless appointments, smooth chairside workflows, and an outstanding patient experience.

• Chairside Assisting: Provide proactive, skilled chairside assistance during a range of general and restorative procedures, including CR/SR fillings, crown and bridge preps, and oral surgery follow-ups.
• Imaging & Diagnostics: Expose and process high-quality diagnostic dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with safety standards.
• Lab Procedures: Take accurate dental impressions and pour/trim stone models.
• Operatory Management: Efficiently set up, break down, clean, and restock treatment operatories between visits.
• Sterilization & Safety: Sterilize and prepare instruments, trays, and clinical equipment in compliance with infection control protocols.
• Patient Communication: Review medical histories, record clinical notes, and deliver clear, empathetic post-operative oral care instructions to patients.
• Record Keeping: Maintain precise, up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience as a dental assistant.
• Licensing & Education:
  • Valid Dental Radiography (X-ray) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred).
• Clinical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with impression-taking, model pouring, operatory turnover, and assisting with restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, bridges).
• Software: Experience with dental practice management software (Open Dental experience is a strong plus).
• Core Strengths: Excellent attention to detail, efficient time management, adaptability during a busy schedule, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
