Dental Assistant

Location: Santa Barbara, CA.

We are seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team to support one of Santa Barbara’s leading healthcare organizations. In this role, you will work in a fast‑paced clinic setting with adults, focusing on dental assisting duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a clinical setting
• Document patient interactions and medical procedures accurately
• Take and record patient vitals
• Room patients and prepare them for examinations
• Prepare treatment room for patients
• Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist’s access; suctioning; passing instruments
• Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth
• Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts
• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
• Ensure health history is updated
• Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions
• Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; call for repairs when necessary
• Fabricate temporary restorations or custom impressions from preliminary impressions
• Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in medical documentation
• Experience with taking patient vitals
• Experience in rooming patients

Qualifications

• Ability to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, and rotating Saturdays
• Fluency in Spanish
• Entry-level welcome; previous medical field experience preferred

Pay

Hourly wage: $21/hr (up to $24/hr for X-ray certification). Base pay range for this position is $25.00–$25.00/hr.
