Job summary

Nova Southwestern University is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chairside support in designated clinics and prepare operatories for procedures. You will assist with patient records and imaging, and help maintain infection control standards.

Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and MS Office is important; some positions require an AA Dental Assisting Program or 2+ years of experience. Expanded duties certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Level I–III experience levels with AA Dental Assisting Program or 2+ years experience.
• Experience with EHR and dental terminology; radiology knowledge preferred.
• Expanded Duties Certificate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides chairside assistance for students, residents, and faculty in designated clinics.
• Plans the set-up of operatories, instruments, and materials according to scheduled procedures.
• Takes and processes digital x-rays and dental impressions.
• Assists with obtaining documents of patients’ dental history and overall health.
• Maintains operatories per infection control protocols (OSHA/HIPAA).
• Enters patient information into electronic health record systems.
• Monitors inventory of dental supplies.
• May assist with sterilization and dispensing.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Performs other duties as required.
