Job summary

LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant 1 or 2 for our Baton Rouge location. No experience required. Duties include assisting dentists and students, charting via LSUSD systems, maintaining supplies, infection control, and following safety guidelines.

Work Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM at 7777 Hennessy Blvd Ste.306, Baton Rouge, LA. SER rates apply: DA2 $15.05/hr; DA1 $14.06/hr. Additional compensation may include longevity pay and certifications bonuses.

Qualifications

• No experience or training required.
• Duties defined by the State Civil Service.
• Familiarity with Axium/WinOMS and basic computer use is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentist and dental students with chair side treatment of patients
• Maintain and stock cabinet
• Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
• Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium/WinOMS Computer knowledge)
• Give follow-up home instructions as directed by the surgeon, resident, or student
• Implement and maintain infection control in the work area.
• Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
• Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA.
• Know dental and surgical terminology.
• know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments
• Knowledgeable of computers.

Compensation:

There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of

• $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
• $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title

Additional compensation

• $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
• $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
• $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
