Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Dental Assistant to support patients and staff under the Director of Clinical Operations. The role includes four-handed dentistry, preparing materials, maintaining instruments, and ensuring equipment is ready for use.

Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s degree or equivalent and formal training in four-handed dentistry with six months’ related experience. Preferred: bilingual Spanish/English, NY state approved program, and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist dental providers in provision of dental care to patients by using four-handed dentistry including the preparation and maintenance of materials, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain appropriate dental supply and material inventory levels within the department, ensuring inventory levels are at par, disposing of expired supplies, and ordering and dispensing supplies as needed.
• Maintain dental/surgical equipment by identifying and reporting major malfunctions to the technical team.
• Provide cross coverage for dental assistant module areas and radiology.
• Maintain student and patient records.
• Pour and mix dental models.
• Perform general administrative functions, and related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Position Summary
