Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients into the treatment area and make them feel comfortable.
• Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer any questions they have.
• Take vital signs and accurately record medical history.
• Assist the dentist during general, restorative, cosmetic, endodontic, prosthodontic, and surgical dental procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment before each procedure.
• Provide efficient four-handed dentistry, including suctioning, retraction, instrument transfer, and moisture control.
• Assist with crowns, bridges, veneers, fillings, root canals, extractions, implant procedures, and other treatments.
• Take dental radiographs, including bitewings, periapical images, and panoramic images, as permitted by Virginia regulations.
• Take intraoral photographs and digital impressions or scans as directed.
• Prepare temporary crowns, impressions or SCANS, bite registrations, and other dental materials within the assistant's authorized scope.
• Provide patients with preoperative and postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Monitor patient comfort throughout treatment.
• Schedule appointments
