Job summary

GEO Secured Services is seeking a Dental Assistant to support examination and oral surgery procedures for detainees/inmates in a correctional setting. You will sterilize instruments, pass equipment, and assist the dentist during treatments, while maintaining patient charts and coordinating appointments.

The role requires an accredited dental assistant program background, state license or certification where applicable, and AZ X-ray certification; one year of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Graduate from an accredited dental assistant program; current license/cert where applicable.
• AZ X-ray Certification.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes instruments and lays out tools for procedures.
• Provides chair-side assistance, passes instruments, and suctions.
• Mixes restorative materials as required.
• Assists with intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays if certified.
• Maintains dental charts and records; schedules appointments.
• Prepares patient schedules for escort officers.
• Maintains OSHA-compliant clinic cleanliness.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary:

The Dental Assistant provides assistance during examination and oral surgery treatment of detainees/inmates.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Dental Assistant sterilizes instruments in the dental office. Lays out needed tools and instruments for scheduled procedures.
• Provides chair-side assistance by keeping operating field clear, passing instruments, and suctioning.
• The Dental Assistant mixes restorative materials as required.
• Assists in taking intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays as requested, if certified.
• The Dental Assistant develops and mounts x-ray films, if certified.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of dental clinic according to OSHA standards.
• Assists the dentist or dental hygienist with dental screenings and schedules appointments as necessary.
• The Dental Assistant maintains dental charts and records dental findings.
• Schedules patients for dental appointments.
• The Dental Assistant prepares patient's schedule for escort officer.
• Maintains compliance with company policies for accreditation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Graduate from an accredited dental assistant program and current license or certification (where applicable) to practice in the state in which the facility is located is required. Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
• AZ X-ray Certification
• A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Dental Assistant preferred
