Job summary

Harris Southwest Dental is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant to join our patient‑focused, state‑of‑the‑art practice. You’ll work with Dentrix, assist dentists with a variety of procedures, take x‑rays (iTero 3D scanner), and help educate patients throughout treatment.

You’ll ensure OSHA/CDC safety, manage rooms and supplies, and maintain accurate records. A dental assisting certification (and x‑ray certification if required) plus strong communication and organization are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, patient‑centric environment.
  • Dental assisting certification and/or x‑ray certification if required by state law.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • HIPAA training and PHI protection required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and educate patients throughout treatment.
  • Review health history to ensure quality care.
  • Take and process x‑rays and other diagnostics (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography).
  • Provide chairside assistance (four‑handed dentistry) to dentists.
  • Use Dentrix for scheduling and record keeping.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with safety protocols per OSHA/CDC.
  • Manage supply and inventory; place and expedite orders.
  • Collaborate with providers to implement Heartland Dental systems.

We are looking for a Dental Assistant to join our team. We are a state‑of‑the‑art office with a patient‑focused atmosphere. We seek a skilled Dental Assistant who is comfortable working with Dentrix, familiar with implants, capable of making a temporary crown, and overall a positive asset to our team.

More About The Role
  • Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, sustaining patient comfort and providing appropriate education throughout treatment.
  • Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care.
  • Take and process x-rays and other diagnostic assessments (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography, etc.).
  • Provide superior chairside assistance (i.e., four‑handed dentistry) to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act.
  • Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping.
  • Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols and following OSHA & CDC recommendations.
  • Manage supply and inventory levels, placing and expediting orders as needed.
  • Partner with the providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems and maximize office workflow.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric environment.
  • If required under the state dental practice act, dental assistant certification and/or x‑ray certification.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job‑related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; the individual must protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
Preferred Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a dental setting.
  • Dentrix or other dental software experience.
  • Dental assisting school certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times.
  • Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in‑person) periodically throughout the year.
  • A tuberculosis (TB) test is required for all new hires in dental office positions; this is a standard requirement and must be completed prior to starting employment.
