Job Description

The Dental Assistant will assist the Dentist in providing quality dental care for adult and pediatric patients in their general dentistry practice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Dentist with dental procedures and ensure supplies and equipment are available.
  • Set up and prepare dental treatment rooms.
  • Process and sterilize dental instruments between patient visits.
  • Make patients comfortable in the dental chair.
  • Maintain dental records with proper documentation, confidentiality, and security.
  • Pull and file patient charts daily.
  • Prepare new charts and maintain organized dental records.
  • Order and inventory dental supplies.
  • Autoclave dental instruments and disinfect examination areas per OSHA standards.
  • Prepare materials, expose radiographs, and process dental x-ray films as directed by a dentist.
  • Familiarity with digital x-rays.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Program.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments; handle telephone inquiries.
  • Triaging dental emergencies.
  • Comfortable seeing children.
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good typing and computer skills.
  • Professional demeanor at all times.
  • At least 1 year experience in a public health setting.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
Education Requirements

Certificate of Dental Assistant from an accredited institution preferred.

Physical Demands
