Job summary

Family Dental Health in Charleston seeks a friendly Dental Assistant to join a growing team and support chairside procedures. You will help maintain patient flow, review charts, and document treatment details to ensure efficient, quality care.

The position offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth, with a schedule Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program with CDA certification or equivalent.
• Current x-ray, CPR, and nitrous certifications or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Outgoing, friendly demeanor with direct patient contact.
• Basic knowledge of dentistry and ability to educate patients.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform efficient and accurate procedures to help maintain doctor's schedule and patient flow
• Assist the doctors with all dental procedures
• Partner with the team to create an exceptional experience for each patient
• Review patient chart prior to doctor arrival and log appropriate patient data during exam and treatment as well as transcribe doctor notes in patient chart
• Verify patient health history and document appropriately in patient's chart
• Discussing diagnosed treatment with the patient
• Maintain sufficient inventory by ordering clinical supplies
• Ensure the practice maintains sufficient inventory by ordering clinical supplies
• Promote and market the company's services and doctors to patients as well as educate patients
• Address patient's questions and/or concerns

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program with current CDA certification; or a combination of education and on-the-job training to demonstrate basic chairside dental assisting skills:
  • Receiving and preparing patients for dental treatment
  • Assisting chairside
  • Taking x-rays
  • Making temporary crowns and pouring/trimming impressions
  • Make custom bleaching trays
• Current x-ray, CPR, and nitrous certifications (or the ability to obtain upon hire)
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional environment with direct patient contact. This includes demonstrating an outgoing and friendly demeanor, greeting patients with a smile as welcomed guests to the practice.
• Basic knowledge of dentistry and ability to educate patients regarding their dental health
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment. This includes learning quickly and accepting constructive feedback. Self-motivated and driven for team success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 or more years expanded dental assisting experience, preferably in general dentistry
• Denticon experience (or the ability to learn)
