Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an exciting potential opportunity for a Dental Assistant to support Naval Health Clinic in Annapolis, Maryland.

Requirements

U.S. Citizen
Degree/Education: Certificate or associate degree as a dental assistant from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA). OR Certification from a military dental technician or dental assistant school. Certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course.
Experience: 1 year within the preceding 36 months.
Certified in Radiography
BLS certification through the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

Perform assistance in one or more phases of complex/difficult restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, or periodontal treatment; receive and schedule patients for treatment.
Obtain and record patient medical history; chart examination and treatment information; document prescription details.
Sterilize instruments, materials, and equipment; prepare surgical trays; maintain dental equipment in a clean and operative condition.
Assist dentist at chair side; perform intra‑oral procedures as directed by dentist; take preliminary impressions for study models; remove sutures; place and remove rubber dams, perio‑packs, matrix bands, and wedges.
Relay dentist’s instructions to patient for post‑treatment care; instruct patient on proper dental techniques, appliance care, and dental decay prevention.
Operate dental X‑ray equipment to take intra‑ and extra‑oral radiographs; maintain, clean, and perform minor repairs on X‑ray equipment and materials.
Pour and trim models from impressions; construct custom impression trays; maintain a variety of recurring reports related to dental activities.
Manage patient workload, readiness, and scheduling; utilize Dentrix/MHS Genesis to enter patient-specific workload and readiness status and for patient scheduling.
