Job summary

The Overbrook Foundation offers a Human Rights Fellow position in Democracy and Reproductive Rights, based in New York with hybrid work. The fellowship supports graduate students starting in September 2026 and involves mentoring by senior leadership in philanthropy, with hands-on work on policy and grantmaking strategies.

Fellows will manage projects, engage with program staff, and contribute to operations while gaining experience in democracy promotion and reproductive rights advocacy.

Qualifications

• Current students or graduates within the last six months; graduate degree in process or recently received.
• Degree in public policy, human rights, or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated interest, studies, and/or professional experience in a relevant program area.
• Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in Midtown offices one to two days per week from mid-September through mid-December.
• Strong proficiency with Google Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage one or two research projects related to the Human Rights portfolio’s strategic focus.
• Identify and assist with evaluating potential grantees.
• Monitor policy changes at federal and state levels and support special grants.
• Develop case studies to showcase grantees’ impact.
• Work on special projects regarding philanthropy operations with Foundation team members.
